Become a Time Master
We live in a world where everyone is in a rush—whether it’s getting to a meeting on time or beating traffic, life is more hectic than ever. With so many things to do in a 24-hour period, when did it get so complicated?
Ultra-productive people know the secret. In order to accomplish a massive amount and feel great about it, you have to eliminate distractions so that you can complete the things that really matter.
Five everyday distractions that can steal all your time if you let them:
Make sure there is a point and clear outcomes to a meeting. Try having stand-up meetings or set a time limit. Ask yourself, "do I really need to be involved in this meeting?"
Set specific times each day when you check email; 8-8:30 am, 1-1:30 pm, 4-4:30 pm. Setup filters and turn off any pop-up alerts.
Social media is fun but it can also be a huge time waster. Designate a certain time each day to view. Thirty minutes is more than enough time to check the day’s posts.
Ever notice how a 5-minute chat with a co-worker can stretch into 30 minutes or even longer? There is nothing wrong with socializing… just become aware when it appears to eat up your time and you are not able to get your to-do list completed.
How big is your to-do list? Ask yourself “what is the best use of my time right now?” Then do it. Continue this process over and over and over…
Top 3 things you can do to be more productive
Focus on simplicity – take action on one thing at a time.
Set up your environment for success– eliminate distractions to keep you on track.
Don’t follow what everyone else does – condition your coworkers to your way of working.
